BLUE STAR

THE BLUE STAR, OR SAKWAHOTE (BLUE A'HOTE), IS ONE OF SEVERAL A'HOTE KATSINAM THAT MAY APPEAR DURING A PLAZA DANCE. USUALLY THEY APPEAR WITH SEVERAL YELLOW A'HOTE, OR SIKYAHOTE. IN THIS PAINTING, HE IS REPRESENTED IN PHYSICAL FORM AS THE KATSINAM, IN TRUE FORM AS THE STARS IN THE SKY, AND IN THE SYMBOLIC FORM. AS HE IS DANCING IN THE PLAZA, HE IS PULLING EVENING OVER THE VILLAGE TO MARK THE ENDING OF ANOTHER DAY.
