The Long-haired Kastinam is one of the most popular groups of all Hopi Katsina. They appear in all Hopi Mesas with subtle differences in their appearance. Among the Hopis there are many varieties and the Red Bearded Katsin Mana is the one portrayed here. They appear in a group their purpose remains similar - to sing beautiful songs in prayer for the clouds to bring rain to help the drought tolerant crops grow.
